Mary W. Crowley, 86, passed peacefully at home with loved ones on Friday, February 17, 2023. Born November 27, 1936, in Boston, Massachusetts to Maurice A. O’Connor and Mary K. (Mitchell) O’Connor, Mary was raised in North Cambridge near extended family.
Mary met her future husband John after graduating high school in 1954, and they married on May 25, 1957, after he returned from service in the Army.
Mary was a stay-at-home mother to her 6 children. When her youngest entered elementary school, Mary returned to work part-time in retail. Later, she held various administrative positions including in the Registrar’s Office in Arts and Sciences at Harvard University, and several Catholic Church rectories over the years.
After living in New York, Virginia, and Massachusetts, Mary and John settled in Zephyrhills, Florida in 2005. She had a long-standing love of fiber arts, particularly sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Mary was an active, faithful St. Joseph Catholic Church parishioner in Zephyrhills, FL.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Maurice in 2020 and Joseph in 2019, and by her beloved husband John F. Crowley in 2015.
Survived by 6 children: Joseph (Chong He) Crowley, Jeanne (Mike) Wells, Janet (John) Dowling, Judith Crowley, James (Jeanne) Crowley, and Michael (Jane) Crowley. Also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends. Service will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at 1:00 pm.
