Sept 6, 2024 Youth Group Update.
Where did the summer go! We have already started the 2024-2025 Youth Group term! We have a great group of young people. Several have returned and we have several new members. It’s not too late to join, we welcome all middle and high school students. Incidentally, we have need of volunteers, too.
This has been a busy summer. I along with 60,000 Catholics from around the country, attended the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis in July. It was a phenomenal experience. The focus, of course, is the renewal and revival of the Eucharist and its importance in our daily lives. There were speakers, morning and afternoon masses, exhibits, and the evening revival sessions.
In August, I along with one of our students, attended the Eucharistic Youth Rally sponsored by the Diocese for the youth of all of the churches in the Diocese. There were over 200 young people present. We listened to speakers (one of which was our own Father Chuck), there were games, snacks, and the vigil Mass by Bishop Parkes. Following the Mass, there was a solemn and sacred one hour Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Then, the volume was tuned up and we enjoyed and participated in Catholic rap songs. The day ended with everyone packing bags for the homeless and ice cream for the ride home.
I am looking forward to an exciting year as we continue our journey with Jesus, the Mass and the Eucharist.
Blessings,
Donna
