In just two years, the Catholic Ministry Appeal has proven itself as an efficient way to translate gifts into grace. Take, for example, our parish. We exceeded our goal for the 2023 Catholic Ministry Appeal. The diocese asked us to raise $74,603.93, and we raised $82,816.48. Since every pennyevery parish raises for the Catholic Ministry Appeal goes toward ministry, the over-goal portion of our total will enable ministry leaders throughout our diocese also to go beyond their original goals. They can now expand their plans to support education, formation, and the assistance of those confronting material need and spiritual distress. God will get the glory for all they accomplish, but it is important for you to realize that their success will be your success. It will be fruit that your gift--the online donation you made or the check you wrote--bore to spread God’s love and mercy in our part of the world. The joy we should feel over this can and should become motivation for us as we consider the relentless nature of need around us. Every year, new situations arise affecting other families. There are always more people seeking Christ’s healing touch.
This is why the 2024 Catholic Ministry Appeal exists, and the needs it will meet are why I am asking you, my friends, to reflect on what I have said here and consider what you may be able to do this year to send light and hope to those living in dark despair. Thank you, St. Joseph, for giving so bountifully as we labor together in Christ.
